  •  this could be a political disaster for Dems if any (0+ / 0-)

of the prisoners released turn around and engage in violent crimes - rape, murder, etc.

If they break drug laws after being released (possession), no one will much care and it won't get any voters riled up.

It would be better politically if none of the releases occur until after November 4.  Then, if any of them commit additional crimes, nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016 will not "own" the decision to release that particular violent criminal.

      •  I sure hope so. When I think of murder and (0+ / 0-)

rape, the first thing I think of is the political consequences for future presidential candidates.  Go ahead and knife someone, just make sure you do it after November 4.

rotting in a prison cell, but would you mind being imprisoned for a while longer until it's politically convenient for me to set you free?"

    •  Recidivism among non-violent drug offenders (0+ / 0-)

normally means being caught with the same drug again. I would advise the newly released to consider moving to Washington or Colorado, and sticking to pot rather than coke. ^_^

There might be a few more options next year.

Willie Horton was in for murder when he committed more violent crimes while on a weekend release.
