    So true about the silhouettes. Partly the problem is we need sun to see iridescence. Sun in the PNW...;-)

    But we have warmth anyway, which helps get the gardens going earlier than others at our latitude. My peas, lettuce and spinach are coming along too, though reluctantly. Peas 6" tall, big enough to take the bird netting off anyway. Which I just transferred over to the broccoli starts I put in a few days ago, since I saw bird damage yesterday. I have lots of starts (from seed) so I can replace if necessary.

    I think it's those Collared doves. Their population has just exploded this spring. Last year I saw a few, and they were an exciting new bird. This year I'm hearing them constantly, singing, calling, flapping in the trees. Under the bird feeder. It's starting to feel like the movie The Birds, swooping overhead when I go outside. Do you have Collared Doves, and if so what are they like there?
