I was using to power boyhood electricity experiments. The early space race was underway, and solar cells were being used to power our first satellites.

At the same time my climbing tree was hung with something I then regarded as its polar opposite in antiquated technology: a simulated square mainsail made from bedsheet, fit with rigging and climbing ratlines to feed my other passion, for the old ships.

I never expected the two to symbolize the cutting edge of humanity's future as I reached grandparent age.

Sound allot like how my mind, and frankly many but now being pushed to think like robots, all thinking and doing similar, it's now called higher education, works and why it continues working in the same manner.

Imagination, leads to innovation, leads to not just blankly dreaming of a better way!!

On this from Bell brings that mind back to the many ads and talk, before cable and before advertising was a main industry of economic growth, as I grew up in and into what was being built during and well after WWII by that greatest generation. Advances in washing machines the came dryers and better refrigeration as well as away from gas stoves to electric with power mowers and not push generated and on and on, before computers and the internet and when phones were just that phones.

All the talk of advancing technologies that were making our lives that much easier and would continue to do so. Into work weeks to 30hrs. at better wages and benefits thus more family and leisure time and the ability to afford that.

The dreams were coming true then the capitalist changed the ideologies of capitalism and into the tank we went, watching and living in that experience till today, them young aren't better off then the not so old previous generation!!

What is stated in these updates:

solar cells were being used to power our first satellites.
It was an interesting collaboration with most of the advances we were quickly making and were envied for, government and industrial investments to bring about in a very quick development with the innovative, with pride, labor force perfecting the advances even further and the next generations bringing fresher minds to that.

But ahhh, today, or in these past couple of decades, that collaboration has been under the rovian revisionist history rewrites as the push continues to privatize for profit all of government with the labor paying for it all with what little is shared with them!!
