  •  Same for me (9+ / 0-)

I no longer need the distance part but I use progressives for the 'puter and reading and to correct astigmatism in my eyes. I love them.

Once you get used to them they are wonders. I have all these different ranges, over my glasses for long distance, top of my lens for the TV, down a little for cooking, down some more ect. They work seamlessly.

sorry you got a bum pair.

I get my glasses at Walmart (I know, sue me) they will replace the lenses if you are unhappy and guarantee the frames for a year, even if it's your fault.

I've had them make me a whole new pair before because I was unhappy, they did it no problem.

      •  I blame (7+ / 0-)

the optometrist. I don't think I ended up with the right prescription from her ... and after three tries!

It seemed like she had certain expectations before she even started measuring me, then when she measured and the results didn't meet her pre-conceived ideas, she made adjustments to the measurements.

I kept going back and saying that the glasses weren't right, that I couldn't see.

On the third try, I gave up. I was disgusted at that point and figured the glasses were close enough to tolerate at that point.

But now that a few months have passed, I find that I can't tolerate them after all. Moreover, the lens that was taken out of the frames to be corrected now keeps falling out on its own. Gah.

I've pretty much stopped wearing those expensive new glasses and have gone back to wearing my old ones.

Time to start over with someone else.
