while the team has to acknowledge his power as owner.

The League needs to be doing something about this.

The team and public can pressure him but its on the league to act.

If Major League Baseball could run Marge Schott out, I'd imagine the NBA would have similar options.

are worth hundreds of millions and owning a sports team is pretty much a hobby to many owners.

he's worth 1.9 billion, number 328 in the US in net. Plus he's a former attorney.

He won't sweat the small stuff but the Clippers are a 575 million dollar investment he's not going to want to let go easily.

And the fact that they are located in a massive metro area he'd still make a huge profit from selling.  The Milwaukee Bucks sold recently for $550 mill, and they're the worst team in the NBA.  I have to believe the Clippers would sell for over $1 billion.

wikipedia, which cites 2014 Forbes. That said, I think you're right - it may actually be higher.

Sterling acquired the Clippers in 1981 for $12.5 million, and as of 2014, the team is valued at $575 million by Forbes magazine,[2] ranking them eighteenth out of thirty teams. At 33 seasons of ownership (1981 to present), Sterling has been the longest-tenured owner in the NBA since the death of Lakers majority owner Jerry Buss on February 18, 2013
