Some feel quite safe for themselves, their families, and loved ones, but look at the waste of life and the suffering caused across this nation by the current situation and work to see it changed. Improved. To become more mature and logical.
I grew up with guns and took the 2A for granted. Now I live in NYC unarmed, and feel safer in New York than in some of the rural places we visit. If we retire to a remote rural place we will probably own guns, and might even carry them in the car or when camping. But we certainly don't need one living in NYC.

600,000 high school students take the NYC subway to/from school every day. We have competitive entrance exams and thousands of specialty high schools. That means many kids in one borough are taking the subway through Manhattan to school in another borough. They don't have cars and we don't pick them up in Yellow buses. They take the subway.

Now picture rural and suburban high school kids, 9th grade and up navigating the NYC transit system. Why does it seem so strange? Because kids in rural and suburban America can carry almost anything they want in their cars/trucks. Even if all they drive is a rusty 20 year old grandpa's car, they all have privilege that is seldom acknowledged.
