  •  Irony alert - the Colorado GOP voted for gun (10+ / 0-)

    control yesterday.

Seems no one fears the supposed big bad gun extremists who are going to cause Dems, Republicans and anyone who dares vote against the "Second Amendment" to lose their job.

    What a bunch of hooey.

    •  I wonder if frank and RKBA here harmed their own (7+ / 0-)

cause? by running off at the mouth, I mean with intransigent nonsense. just wondering~

      •  They certainly set expectations high, and there's (4+ / 0-)

only one place to go from there ... down in flames.

How about this  pile of derp if  you want to lose on the issue?  When your own people sound like NRA trolls, there's a problem.  The commenter even says it's counterproductive, so at some level they know and admit  it's unproductive.  But it still gets 34 recs for public wanking.

The Second Amendment says nothing about bullets.  Just jack up the price or tax the heck out of 'em.  But I can hear the pissing and moaning from here, so bag it.

Ms. Padilla's idea should be broadly implemented.  It won't keep cops from shooting innocent bystanders, but it will remove the incentive for thieves to steal the guns.

          idea to occupy bandwidth ...

Only the Ugly Gun Ban is dumber ...

Well ... now that the criminal community is beginning to embrace the "modern sporting rifle" as a tool-of-trade ... maybe  Ugly Gun registration isn't as dumb as it once was.

But until we come up with a way to track a firearm the way we track and automobile ... from manufacture to recycling ...  "background checks" and "magazine limits" remain feelgood measures that make a dedicated minority VERY VERY ANGRY.   (And you won't like them when they're ANGRY -- they'll vote Republican!!)

It is rather easier to control the supply of ammunition, than it is to restrict the supply of firearms.

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.

            •  Making Gasoline $20 Gallon Would Save Lives (0+ / 0-)

Why not?  It makes perfect sense. Except it's not going happen.  So continuing to bring it up would just be......trolling.

There a people that troll on both sides of the gun control issue, but I'll eave it up to the observer to decide which side is mostly just giving each other handjobs and losing in the process.

                anyone was shot with gasoline.

You are just the guy to bring up "trolling" as an issue.

                •  I'm thinking: "Waco" and "Philadelphia MOVE" (0+ / 0-)

Whether MOVE or Branch Davidian were stockpiling Molotov Cocktails ... or intended to self-immolate from the very beginning -- anyone who knew is now dead.

If we learned nothing else from the Hungarian Uprising of 1956 ...  a whiskey bottle and a quart of gasoline makes a semi-effective anti-tank weapon.

And ask your local fire marshal what the most arsonists choose as their accelerator when they set a structure fire.

On the other hand,   if one wants to go fishing with an outboard motor,  an all-electric motor just won't get the job done.  Let's not even talk about the energy density needed to make propeller aircraft work ... or the enormous cost of converting the vehicles using the Interestate system to ... I dunno, COAL fired steam ?

A lot of problems with coal ... but  it's a damned inconvenient substance to weaponize.

            •  "Rather easier" How do you figure THAT ? (0+ / 0-)

It's the same people wanting to buy

The same companies supplying them .

              The same castration-fear and lust-for-power
driving both -- egged on by Alec Koch Esq and the Great Big Right Wing Conspiracy.

So ... where does "easier" come from ?

    •  Colorado HB 14-1386 (3+ / 0-)

      UPDATED SUMMARY
      HOUSE BILL 14-1386
Second Regular Session - Sixty-ninth Colorado General Assembly
This summary applies to the reengrossed version of this bill as introduced in the second house.  It does not reflect any amendments that may be subsequently adopted.  This
summary reflects only the main points of the legislation.

The bill adds revised definitions for "danger to self or others" and "gravely disabled". The term "imminent" is removed from "imminent danger" to conform with the new definitions.

How absolutely devastating to gun owners! Our cause is in ruins!

      •  Yes, thanks - and those definitiosn can be used (3+ / 0-)

to determine who qualifies to possess a gun and who does not, ie, gun control.

Set up a poll for RKBA members. See how many think "Danger to self or others" is a good reason to not let someone have a gun. My guess is it would be all of them who think that's a very good reason to not let someone have a gun.

Gun control folks love to quote figures saying that gun owners are more likely to be a victim of gun violence, but never quite seem to realize that this means we have more skin in the game than non-gun owners. I'll wager RKBA members want our fellow gun owners to be safe and competent gun owners at least as much if not more than you do. We're just not fearful and authoritarian about it.

          •  Please stay focused - the point of the diary (4+ / 0-)

is about whether the Colorado recall elections doomed gun control.

The state GOP had a front row seat to those recall elections and they just voted for MORE gun control.

The Colorado state GOP is not afraid they will lose they jobs if they vote for gun control.

This diary isn't about the DKos RKBA group.

It's about politicians voting against the gun lobby.
