    When I bought the house I still live in 1990, the house next to mine was rented out.  It was owned by someone who lived outside of town.

    One day not long after I moved in, I saw some people working on the house.  I thought the older white man I saw might be the owner.  I decided to introduce myself.

    I did and he was the owner.  Within a couple of minutes he said, "Well, I'm glad you bought the house and not some n*gger.".

    It was an interesting introduction to the town I was living in.  

    This guy clearly was living in the same world as Bundy. Among the white people, he comment to me was perfectly OK.

    [Medicare, and Medicaid, and Social Security] do not make us a nation of takers; they free us to take the risks that make this country great.
