    That 'well I can't be racist, I give my players food and shelter' thing.

    If the owner of a major league team in ANY sport uses circa 1850s plantation owner slavery justification language when referring to players on the team thusly owned, the players on that team ought to be free agents until at the very least the time that individual no longer owns the team.

    He owns the team. He does NOT own the men on that team, nor their labor, and paying them the amount specified in their contracts with the team is NOT giving them favors - it is the legal MINIMUM required of a team owner.

    He needs to be taught that lesson, BADLY.
