    Umm... No, no it's not. It's a REMARKABLE display of white privilege to be able to entertain that idea w/o laughing.

    Don't be surprised when this idea doesn't catch on with black folk.

      I think the comment regarding whether this is an appropriate or accurate comparison, is worthy of consideration.

      I will confess - white guy talking here - that it never even entered my head that the word "slavery" would spark such a response.  Even if appropriate, which clearly is a debatable point, it's massively distracting

          hence the name change to the diary

          the analogy breaks down on the "human impact" issue, as  I state above in the edited diary.  A worthy point.

          But I think it holds up on the constitutional and economic comparison.  regards

          p.s.  personally, I love the Okies metaphor.  But how do the heirs of the Okies feel about it?
