when the smoke clears, Sterling will wish he could land in the top 5000. This is going to cost him a lot more than his NBA franchise.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy (snark)....

    •  Actually, if he sells his team... (0+ / 0-)

His net worth increases a lot.

It's worth $575 million dollars right now according to Forbes.

It has been thought that Magic Johnson would be the obvious choice (not Billy Crystal as the article suggests). I would bet that Donald wouldn't settle for less than $700 million. It would increase his net worth by over 50%.

Sorry, I wish it wasn't true, but...

On reflection, you can bet this will boil down to two things:

        1) Donald Sterling pissed someone off really bad.
        2) There are numerous concerns in Los Angeles who think they're far more fit to own an NBA franchise than Donald Sterling.

In other words, Sterling has been an asshole for an incredibly long time, and he's finally getting, uh, payback. So don't cry for him--whether he wins or loses any net worth, he won't end up destitute or anything...

I saw some headline intimating that Merriweather Lewis was interested in bidding on the team. I didn't read the whole thing I just saw it clicking around the CA papers this morning...
