    ...but my assumption, as you can see, is that short of a live-boy-or-dead-girl situation, it's hard to lose a Republican seat in the South.

      Do you understand what jungle primaries are? That means a general election open to members of all parties plus independents. Does that change your opinion?

        But that's only a danger if some other Republican challenges him to permit a Democrat to get in.  And taking the incumbent, even a damaged one, out of the picture risks increasing the danger of competing Republican candidacies that would do just that.  So I don't see getting McAllister out as a clearly superior option unless there's someone in the wings who is strong enough to pulverize would-be Republican competitors.

          Republican will win the election, because LA also has runoffs if no candidate gets at least 40% of the vote in the first round.
