    that its the whole theory of "colored" revolutions and the influence of Gene Sharp.

    The idea that revolution can be non-violent is a non-starter.  For better or worse, the idea that the State has legitimate authority (backed up by a monopoly on the use of force, and bound by law) keeps social violence to a minimum.  When the power of the state withers, every man is potentially a king.  And because the monopoly on the legitimate use of force has been broken, no authority exists to tame these potential despots.

    Anyone who was awake in the aftermath of the Arab Spring should have seen this coming. The best case scenario is an Egyptian situation in which some former element of the state is able to reconstruct law and order at the cost of any pretension of democracy.
