them, but praise them.  Also, their constituents will reward them for this even though their constituents are the same group this would help.  You can lead a horse to the water, but you cannot make them drink.  Blue collar workers care more about voting for someone who will make sure they keep their guns, corporations fat and sassy, keep the minority and women down, to sacrifice their own families who could benefit from democrats control of congress.

Instead of paying the min wage they just offer unpaid internships for a couple of years.

This is why there is no penalty of going bold in your proposals. They could offer 22 dollars an hour or 15 dollars an hour and no matter what the republicans will say no.

Come on Harry..it's not like this wasn't predictable. Another soft spoken sternly worded speech on the senate floor isn't going to fix this, nor will any "gentlemens" agreement that the republicans violate the first chance they get. Propose 15 dollars an hour and then reform the filibuster to 51 votes and a talking one and we win or make huge gains in the mid terms and hold the senate. People aren't gonna be inspired by..oh man..I tried really hard but those 40 republicans are really just that damned good at getting what they want.

The filibuster is the problem.  The Senate Democrats refusing to end/alter the filibuster is the next problem.

To the extent the media will report this, they will just say "A minimum wage bill failed to pass the Senate today."  MAYBE they will mention "The voting was along party lines."  They will NEVER report "A majority of the United States Senate voted for the bill, but Republicans in the Senate used an arcane rule that allows a minority of Senators to prevent the passage of a bill."

I've seen several sites with essentially the same headline as here: GOP Senators block minimum wage increase. That's much better than "Senate turns down. . . ." or "Dems fail to. . . ." It clarifies who's on which side.

Keep putting it up for a vote, Harry. Make this like the House GOP votes to repeal the ACA -- but far more useful.
