is not exactly a profile in courage when it comes to cracking down on these people.

I've lived in southern Nevada for ten years, and I can honestly say that I can think of few high-ranking members of law enforcement that I have had less confidence in.

There have probably been a lot more phone calls from Gillespie's to Sandoval and Heller's offices trying to figure out how to minimize the damage to those idiot Republicans who put Bundy on their shoulders than touching base with people like Horsford about winding this shit down.

“I urge you to investigate these reports and to work with local leaders to ensure that their concerns are addressed in a manner that allows the community to move forward without incident,” Horsford wrote to Gillespie.
Think about that for a minute.

There are bands of armed thugs acting like they are their own law out in the desert, and you get that kind of letter not only sent, but sent in as public a way as possible?

The fact that a sitting member of Congress had to write a very public "dear Doug, WTF dude?" letter to put a burr in his ass to help get that ass of his in gear is a big tell.
