  •  That POS should have their photos (0+ / 0-)

all over his walls and ceiling too.  I wonder why they couldn't force that type of thing on behest of the families?

    •  Because (7+ / 0-)

justice should not be about revenge.

Justice should be about deterrence, rehabilitation, and protection of the community. Taking vengeance on the man would serve no useful purpose and would only nurture the worst impulses in our psyches.

      •  Well, how about if they do it for (0+ / 0-)

        say the first 6 months?

Revenge is more of an emotional thing.  I'm trying to be objective...make it a part of justice.

          •  I agree. But I'm saying what I suggest (0+ / 0-)

is not revenge.  If it's built into the Federal Criminal Code by that fact it's not revenge, agree?  It would have to legally be called justice.

Anyway, For 6 months - or even 2 months - it could arguably be rehabilitative.

Revenge is still revenge whether it's codified in the law or not.

If there's an argument to be made about rehabilitation (pointless in the case of someone who's never leaving prison other than feet first, but in general) present your evidence.

              •  You never know if your (0+ / 0-)

sentence might be commuted.  Further, you can be a positive influence on others in prison if you've been even partially rehabilitated.  And by doing this you gain in self worth as well - and thus hopefully somewhat more at accepting at what you did which might bring a measure of peace to you, even if you stay there.

Yes, I was talking about legal justice which at the same time might be looked at as revenge from ethical and/or psychological ends.
