  •  I always called them the tapes in my head that my (0+ / 0-)

    parents gave me. These work on lots of subjects, racism - sure, parenting skills or lack there of - sure.
    Example: "Because I said so!"
    We can rewind the tapes or try to erase them. We all can comment on racism and I don't think it depends on the color of your skin. But that being said I would never try to explain RACISM to a person of color, might tell them instances and stories of racism, but white-splaining or man-splaining just does not seem to cut the same way these decades. Things are getting better but I think we have a heck of a way to go!

    I grew up in the backwoods of WA and saw/see still in this day and age the racism of our native population (I mean really folks?! The name of the town is native!!!) But there is still an ill will towards anyone 'different'. So things are getting better, just not fast enough for me.
