...but the town in question is in New York.

You'd be amazed at how similar New York State can be to those other places.

If the pilot's good, see, I mean if he's reeeally sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low... oh you oughta see it sometime. It's a sight. A big plane like a '52... varrrooom! Its jet exhaust... frying chickens in the barnyard!

of the Women's Movement and the Abolitionists that were apart of the regional history.

Now one can hate on the Abolitionists for several reasons, I have seen it, but the cultural and political history of Upper New York Sate is very diffuse and rich with much religious and philosophical movements.

That said, the main issue when I grew up there was Protestant Catholic tensions..Protestant meaning hard working white people, Catholic meaning some white people but also some dark and even brownish tinted people so, living in the city rather than us german and  scots farmers.....

It's amazing but I am also not surprised to see this pocket of embarrassing stupid still extant there, and glad I left.

      •  As of I wasn't aware of that (0+ / 0-)

which is why I said translate it to small town southern.  Down here those town halls or county commission meetings start with a Christian prayer every time, every meeting, no search for diversity.   The fact that the town was in New York state meant that there was at least enough of a presence of other religions to merit the town asking for some different prayers every few years.

I've been working for small local governments off and on for over 30 years, I haven't heard my first prayer that wasn't in Jesus' name.
