You are willing to sacrifice a Senate majority?
As if the GOP will not act ten times worse?

I hate the classic Democratic refrain as espoused by Rahm,
"Who else are ya gonna vote for?"

    But it is true.
Vitter makes Landrieu look like McKibben.

And I disagree that "my" approach will add more CO2 - rather, I believe it is "your" approach that will add more CO2 as outlined above. Railroads were realistically reluctant to invest in new rolling stock if KXL was only going to face a short delay. Now, they can't construct enough oil tank cars. The technology for crude oil unit trains is out there - except that they use far more fuel in delivery and pose far greater transportation risks.

It reduces profit margins - but it remains highly profitable - at least for the energy conglomerates.

...added CO2, whatever the source, is a big deal.

Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

        Is that you?

'Cause I'm surely glad to have you tellin' me what I believe and what I do not.

I have lived my entire life as a progressive - on issues of economic, racial, gender, and environmental justice and more. And I get to come here and have you tell me what I believe.

And, BTW, I have more than 100,000 miles of cycling - not just touring, but commuting in Wyoming and Montana winters. My last construction work on the house - I had 1 1/2% linear feet wastage. From meals to leftovers to soup pot to the birds or compost.  Of course, it doesn't hurt to be working poor.

So, I walk the walk - thank you very much.

        1. Economic equity
        2. Population
        3. Habitat destruction
        4. Waste
        5. Energy transition

But if you switch #5 with #1 you will get neither.
