For a homebody type I had the unusual experience recently of having to fly four times in about one month. On three of those flights, to my surprise, I was directed to the TSA Precheck line. This was not something I had applied for, or paid for, (which seems by the description to be necessary in most cases). Nevertheless, the security staffer who is usually barking at passengers about taking off shoes and jackets, putting lap tops in the bin, etc. was instead barking at us to keep our shoes on, do not remove lap tops or baggies of toiletries, keep belts on, etc. So we shuffled along getting yelled at just like the regular folks, but were spared arriving on the other side in our bare feet. Still don't know why I got in this exclusive company - on one flight I was with colleagues, and they had to go through the regular process.

which I am thinking is tied to passport data as well, It was much more pleasant and even the minions were friendlier and annoyed that I knew enough about my shoes to know that they wouldn't allow me to step through their portal without setting it off, so I took them off...

Age and gender factors. I doubt I was the only one in our group with a passport.

I travel all the time but never get into the privileged pre-check lines. Bet it feels good for you, but I'm stuck with the idiots.

I completely agree with this republican fool. TSA is out of control, and indoctrination actually seems to me to be a possible partial explanation.

I blame Obama as much as bush, maybe more, because so much time has passed and he hasn't made any effort to readdress this crap.

      •  Sorry about that (0+ / 0-)

As a frequent traveler you should probably be exempt from the hassle more than I was. By now they should have figured you were unlikely to be a threat. I was pretty much an unknown quantity.

On this site. NSAs gotta do something with all that money I guess. I'm joking but since the program is totally opaque and I seem to be excluded, i don't have much confidence. I even maxed out on my Obama contributions... Should that get me anything?

Only consolation I have is that the other day the pre-check line was actually longer and slower than my regular shlep line! Made me feel warm inside.
