it sounds like the White House had politics and elections on their mind
was not supposed to be funny, nor did it mean that Jon "bought into it".  it was a snarky comment, referencing how many many endless many times the Bush Administration had politics and elections on their mind when they sent people on the Sunday shows.  he had visuals to back it up.

and really, who doesn't know how to spell Jon Stewart?  It's almost as bad as Barrack Obama.

I will say this.  From that e-mail, it sounds like the White House had politics and elections on their mind when they sent Susan Rice to the Sunday shows.  It's deplorable.
he wasnt being snarky when he said that - he was conceding that point
      •  he was conceding that point because (0+ / 0-)

that is the way it works.

ALL administrations have politics and elections on their mind when they send representatives to the Sunday shows.

What do you think the Sunday shows are FOR?
When you watch Colbert, or the Daily Show, you have to be able to keep the big picture stuff in mind or the main message will go right over your head, as it apparently has here

it is clear that the larger point Jon was making is this:

the Obama administration has politics and elections on their mind when they send Susan Rice (or anyone) to the Sunday shows

The Bush Administration (who did so much to worsen the situation in the Middle East in the first place) ALSO had politics and elections on their mind when they sent their representatives to the Sunday shows

and the result of BushCo doing that, over and over and over and over and over again, had a much worse outcome in terms of American deaths through war and terrorism and even embassy attacks, but the conservative media seems content to just let that go while making a ridiculously big deal about Benghaziiiiiiiii

If that doesn't get through to you, I can't help you, Sundance.  I don't know how to explain it any more simply than that
