  •  I am one of those who did- (4+ / 0-)

Couldn't stand the large gains being made on the backs of others...

Purchased a residential PV Array and a 43 mpg TDI for the one still working...

Took a beef in penalty butt enrolled agent worked that down due to some of the spent $$$ having incentives tied, and state did chime 3.7K as well ...

Regrets?  None-  Still have a third left, and it is again climbing on the backs of others so might have to liquid all, if 1% do knot change their NeoLiberal fascist ways...

IT consult but moving in a diff direction at midpoint of life-  Career changes are tough, butt I must change due to health reasons, and toxic environment that IT consults tend to endure from folks who know nothing of what is done in service to them...

No; I still cannot and do knot have health insurance post #aca due to Anthem BCBS being known as "the mob" in this NH household....

Risky?  yes, of course, butt with no regrets whatsoever-

    •  Paradoxical that IT is so toxic, and awful. (4+ / 0-)

A friend of mine recently left a relatively good IT job due to extremely unfavorable work environment created by his direct supervisor.  He was one of the lucky ones, who - working on a college campus - was genuinely appreciated by the people he most directly served (students would actively seek him out).  That department lost far more than they knew when he chose to bail.

Sadly, he's now working part time in a hospital, standing up for 5-6 hours straight (he has a bad back) and getting zero benefits.  He had to raid his 401k as well, between jobs, unsurprisingly.

Not all people are human; not all humans are people.
