    ever since I heard an NPR panelist mention that:

    - 30% of Americans have less than $5000 in savings
    - 60% of Americans have less than $25,000 in savings

    That's... less than a year (maybe two, if you live VERY cheaply) of survival. And the reasons they were giving her weren't profligacy or inattention, they were "because we have to spend this. Paycheck to paycheck."

    That means two thirds of us are going to be working FOREVER. Anyone care to calculate the effects on new workers' ability to find a job?
