While I agree with the diarist that Rice DID NOT say that the video inspired the attack, she did claim that it inspired protests that then inspired this attack.  So the video is still claimed to be the root cause that ended up triggering the attack, but with one extra step in between.

I don't think such a clarification is going to change anyone's mind about Benghazi.

    •  So the video provided the attackers with an (0+ / 0-)

opportune moment/time to attack.  It gave them cover.  They took advantage of the chaos which was already occurring.

The NYT expose pointed out that there had been protestors/demonstrators gathering at various points throughout the day.  Why were they there?  What where they protesting?  The VIDEO.

This parsing is simply ridiculous.  It is a damn shame we have to go through all of this when we - America- are the victims.  WE were attacked.  We should not be attacking each other.  This only happens when a Democrat is in office.  All hell breaks loose under repubs and we simply band together, pick up and move on.

      Susan Rice got it right.

that the protests around the world prior to Benghazi, were prompted/inspired by the video.  The view was that the worldwide chaos created by those protest, and the breaching of the Embassy in Cairo - something that I don't believe has happened since Iran - made this an opportune moment to attack.
