around enforcing that one "commandment" so zealously and yet ignore the 600 or so other ones such as no tats or no blending clothing materials or no shellfish or pork?

    •  That is easy (0+ / 0-)

they "get around" it by pointing out that Jesus fulfilled the law of Moses and did away with those rules.  That is why the honest point to the New Testament prohibitions on homosexuality and don't call for gays to be stoned to death (or anyone), the love the sinner but not the sin thing. They can't support what they see as sin, feel driven to make "sinning" as hard as possible (see bar laws in Utah).

In Acts Peter is told that God can change the rules when they are completed. (Christ's death and Zombification -snark-)

Stupid question hour starts now and ends in five minutes.

      •  if memory serves, Paul also advises against (0+ / 0-)

marriage, counseling celibacy for the faithful and reserving marriage for "those who burn" or in other words, are of weaker moral fiber and cannot control their lust.

I also think that the NT prohibits divorce and remarriage though the exact citation escapes me at the minute.  Benham Bros most recently tried this love the sinner and hate the sin defense
