    ...we can make a good case that the "prosperity gospel" pushed by so many of the right-wing mega churches does not qualify as Christianity.

    After all, it is a very recent innovation that lacks any real track record, and certainly can't be justified in the gospels.  Therefore, by Tony Perkins thinking, these churches (and their members) are not Christian, nor are they entitled to First Amendment protection.

    By the time we're done taking his "logic" and carrying it to it's conclusion, the First Amendment religious protections won't have any meaning left...

    If Democrats proclaim the the Earth is round and Republicans insist it is flat, we will shortly see a column in the Washington Post claiming the the earth is really a semi-circle.

      for qualifying for the First Amendment - if falls to Free Speech.  All the First does is prohibit the establishment of religion or the restriction of religion.

      Nothing about christian religion in that.
