  •  The problem is the man-made part (0+ / 0-)

I've seen polls showing not just that a majority accepts the global warming is real, but a smaller majority already accepts that it's man-made. Our problem is only a minority accepts that the problem is urgent.

The issue for deniers isn't the "man-made" part, or "AGW" as they like to say to pretend they know what they're talking about. The problem for them is the solutions violate conservative ideology. Saying it isn't man-made or doesn't matter just let's them say it's natural, so there's nothing to be done but live with it.

We need, as the writer says, to stop arguing over whether it's real, because we're just losing our limited time. We have a majority already, so we have to figure out how to turn that into action. We have to figure out how to implement conservation measures and new technologies despite conservative opposition, which means we have to defeat them politically. I don't pretend to have all the answers as to how, but I know we have to make denialism politically costly, at least more so than accepting the science. And inactive acceptance has to be made more politically risky doing something about it.
