with this.   The "hope" I guess is that our spin is better than their spin.  Suddenly we'er hoping on the MSM?  Please. I'd rather a strong team of Dems on the Committee that could challenge.  The Minority Leader seems not to know what do...

This will not end well for either Party or for our intent for 2014 imho.

NP - Sure, the Minority Leader is going to sit on a Select Committee.

        See.  This is the Problem...

By who?  Grayson is indeed embroiled in a nasty divorce, but calling him a buffoon is arrant propaganda I expect only from the right wing - and Third Way Dems who are terrified of people like Grayson.  And in any case, it has jack shit to do with how he votes in the House, or whether he can effectively wield his razor wit and his passion in support of his constituents.

Wait -- Newt Gingrich was a buffoon embroiled in two nasty divorces.  John McCain was a who buffoon traded in his wife for a younger woman who hadn't been disfigured in an accident. Then there was Henry Hyde.  Do you mean to say these folks were felt to be unqualified to sit on committees or to represent the opposition, or even to run for President?

Why do the purity rules only apply to Democrats? Why are we always afraid to stand up because we might get criticized for something?

To send a "strong team of Dems" would only add gravitas to the proceedings that they won't have with the GOP essentially in a circle jerk about it.

      •  The right Democrats could point out the craven (0+ / 0-)

political nature of the entire proceeding and I would welcome the scenes of them having their microphones cut just like Issa did to Congressman Clyburn.

The Republicans will start foaming at the mouth and the Democrats will look like the adults in the room.

Plus, it will be a public forum to repeat and repeat and repeat the fact that the Republican Congress failed to provide more funding for embassy security, something that needs to be hammered on incessantly.
