    ...a bigger market team didn't take him. There was speculation early in the 7th round that the Cowboys would take him with one of their multiple picks in the 7th because they lost a lot of pass rushers to free agency.

    But St. Louis qualifies as home, lots of Rams fans are familiar with his outstanding play "on Saturdays", and NO ONE (sane) will openly suggest that Jeff Fisher made a "non football" decision to draft Sam.

      the Redskin's would take Sam to counter the negative publicity they've been receiving lately from Native Americans who are opposed to their team name.

      There would be criticism that it was a "non-football" decision if that had happened, which I think might factor into why the Redskins didn't take him, even though they definately need an upgrade on special teams.
