    i tried things.
this was when sandwiches were american cheese on wonderbread and tacos were on the hard shell , and filled with iceburg lettuce american cheese and hamburger.
but dad took us fishing and we cleaned and fried our fish. he got crawdads, he snuck in gallon jars of pickled pigs feet and hot peppers. he would dare you to try a pepper, and i did and i liked them. ha made chili and put vinegar and onions on top of it, in the bowl.
my grandpa introduced me t buttermilk ,on a ride home from the grocery stroe. buttermilk was something i never heard of and my mom would have never allowed it in her kitchen.

as a teen, we moved to the NW .i would try exotic things like yogurt, or take the train to seattle ,go to the asian district and buy something out of the counter, a steamed bun with bean paste, seaweed, lots of things.
i like hot chilli tastes, i like arugula , i like anchovies, i like all kinds of spices.i've never been wealthy so don't seek out exotic delicacies but always loved trying new things.

only thing i could not do was back in the day, my boyfriend would come back from alaska fishing season with a couple of frozen king salmon. one year he brought a bunch of roe as well.
he and a japanese friend got ecstactic over  bowls of noodles with a bit of sauce (probably soy sauce, oil and vinegar), some of the roe and a raw egg cracked over everything. it was the raw egg i couldn't get past.
