Matt Lauer was on his best behavior. Maybe that's the ultimate plan?

I don't want to see that either, so it's good that someone articulated it as a thought. What should we look for, do you think, that might clue us in to that happening--as opposed to when Greenwald uses other, more trustworthy outlets to put the message forward?

    •  Greenwald said about half the news (12+ / 0-)

about NSA spying has been revealed.  He indicated that the rest of the stories are somewhat complex and detailed and that the new information will require very professional reporting to help the public understand it.   FWIW.

Not every news outlet is capable of accurately reporting these stories.

Public is it's ability to forget.  The NSA is counting on riding this out for a couple years, and going back to business as usual. It's clear from the way they've handled it thus far that they do not intend any good faith adjustment of their behavior.  So the passage of time is the greatest enemy.

Anything that tends to trivialize these revelations works to the NSA's advantage. I disagree with the Diarist that this is a particularly good interview. If you notice there was absolutely no mention of the substantive aspect of the disclosures. Rather, what we got was personality and emotion questions--no substance whatsoever.
