offensive poster on their tumblr site, which wasn't well moderated, and they have condemned it and issued an apology.

Was the posting anonymous?  Do they know who exactly posted it?  Was the poster a Vassar student?

An Apology from the SJP Vassar General Body

Up until this point, the social media platforms (tumblr and twitter) associated with SJP Vassar’s name have been managed by one person and the SJP general body was not involved in decisions made about what was being posted. We condemn any and all hate speech including any form of anti-Semitism and we are deeply sorry several offensive posts were made in SJP Vassar’s name.

We are now reevaluating how social media associated with SJP Vassar will be managed as we sincerely want these outlets to reflect our mission of social justice, opposition to all forms of racism, and solidarity with the Palestinian people.

    •  What a smoking load of BS (4+ / 0-)

they didn't say it was anonymous or that it wasn't a student or that they don't know who posted it. They said a single person was managing it. In other words, they assigned one of their own to manage it and are now blaming that one person for their actions, related only to the poster. But they continue to justify other anti-Semitic postings on their website.

did not install a mechanism to moderate posts.  They also may have neglected to require users to identify themselves before being allowed to post, so the person/persons responsible may have been anonymous and not a member of the organization or even a Vassar student.

I'm not familiar with the organization.  What were the other anti-Semitic postings you are referring to?

One thing that is for sure: whoever is behind posting that ugly drawing is the lowest of the low.

      •  I know for a fact (4+ / 0-)

That the person who posted that Nazi poster is one of the leaders of the SJP movement at Vassar.
