    For issue groups, anonymity has protected advocates for unpopular causes including civil rights.  (The key First Amendment case on the issue being NAACP v.  Alabama.)

    I tend to think messages should be judged on their merits not their proponents, so I am in favor of permitting anonymity for donations to groups which are not political parties or candidate committees.  On the other hand, I'm fine requiring disclosure by entities with more than a  certain number of members or donors  to be required to disclose such donations publicly.
