  •  Insularity is common to most governments (9+ / 0-)

And it's not necessarily a bad thing.  A right-wing businessman from Massachusetts tried to establish residency in Vermont so he could run against Pat Leahy a couple of elections ago.  He got steamrollered in the primary by a little old dairy farmer, largely on the grounds that he was a flatlander who had no business running for office until he'd lived in Vermont for more than eighteen months.  Best of all, the dairy farmer turned around and endorsed Leahy!

Same thing is going to work against Scott Brown in New Hampshire.  He's a flatlander and a pretty blatant carpetbagger, and New Hampshirites don't cotton to those.

    •  I haven't denied flaws in other gov'ts. I stated (0+ / 0-)

a specific set of facts concernng a specific transaction with a specific state -- Vermont.

And that isn't the only instance of direct contact with Vermont's gov't on which I base my stated view of a peculiarity specific to Vermont.
