  •  The only 'woods' are called 'river valleys'. (0+ / 0-)

There are no forests & there are very few places where you are more than a mile (half-mile actually) away from a house or road or more than 3 1/2 miles from a town.

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

    •  And? (3+ / 0-)

Iowa is not simply cornfields as was preciously stated to which I was responding. It has a range of different kinds of ecosystems, including ones in which wolves could thrive as part of their range through Iowa to and from other states.

      •  Eastern Iowa is beautifully wooded (3+ / 0-)

along the Mississippi River and its tributaries, as you get further west there's the prairie, now longed tiled and drained and turned into agricultural land, gently turning into the Loess as it becomes the plains of Nebraska

At one time, before the tiling of the 1930s especially, it resembed much more Minnesota for the number of lakes, and of course streams and rivers

I can't believe someone thinks wolves aren't native, of course these are the self-proclaimed experts in everything from paleontology to global wildlife biology

        and roads.

People have actually searched for the most remote spot in Iowa and found it to be 1.5 miles from a road but with lots of motor noise.

I'm sure you have a beautiful state and I've never seen dirt as good, but wilderness it aint. Lotta deer in those corn fields, 100K

Another place I'd like to see wolves is Rock Creek National Park.

As if franks diet is some how above that?

A wolf is a lot more healthy than a fat , hotdog eating , beer bellied conservative , mentally and physically , and they get laid more
