for the next trumped up circus?

Or the next one in 2015? Or how about the one in 2016?

It doesn't matter who the Democrats put on the "committee." You can put Jesus Christ on the Committee and the person controlling the agenda will find a way to make him look like a fool, because that is his motive. The motive here isn't to find out the "truth." It's a show trial with a pre-ordained ending--guilt by association.

      Elijah Cummings on Issa's committee.

Someone wound up looking like a fool, but it was not Cummings.

      •  Not to the Republican base. (0+ / 0-)

That's who this is for, not the general public. The general public doesn't care--or at least they didn't until Pelosi decided she'd legitimize it.

is not persuadable by any of this sturm and drang. Nothing Democrats do or don't do is going to mean shit to them. This is about everyone else.

Because this "no one is going to care/we shouldn't legitimize it" line of thought is exactly how his campaign initially "handled" the swift boat allegations.

          •  The public has already (0+ / 0-)

rendered its verdict on Benghazi--there were already plenty of hearings on it. I don't think these hearings have nearly the same potential as the Swift Boat attacks (which were more personality-based), but I do agree there needs to be a counter-attack. Just not a counterattack in the form the GOP expects. That's why the Dems should do their own hearings--on the House GOP.

All we do is enable their efforts to fire up their base by this. I don't think we should be doing that. It's a trap.
