be aware that such a place exists, where there are no crazed Islamic kidnappers, where girls can go to school and study freely. They probably think the whole world is one big Nigerian cesspool. But that shouldn't stop us from doing all we can to give them the better life every single one of them would have here. Alas, we probably won't, we'll probably dump them in Lagos and go on with our lives. It's depressing.

These girls may well know about the US and still want to stay in Nigeria with their families and stand up for what is right and try and fix the country. So is not their decision as to what they want to do going forward?

And no offense, but assuming they would have a better life here is puting your standards on their lives, not theirs.

Frankly, I’m getting more than a little tired of hearing from angry America. I’m also less than fond of knee-jerk America. And when you combine the two with the Internet, you too often get stupid America, which is really annoying.

      •  Yeah right, life in Nigeria (0+ / 0-)

might be every bit as good as life in the US. I'm just being culturally insensitive. The thousands of Americans who emigrate to Nigeria prove me wrong.

Come on man. How about Somalia? North Korea? Is there anyplace we can all agree is worse than America?
