    Who in their right mind is going to donate between $5000-$10000 to a windfarm with no chance of getting a return on the money?  That goes well beyond "generous" for most people.  

    In Britain they admit to having royalty. In the United States we pretend we don't have any, and then we elect them president.

    •  I was thinking more in the $100-$500 range (none)
      with an eye towards building a recurring source of money.  The attraction would be a single contribution of $500 would spawn $50 a year of political donations to liberal/left candidates.  In some ways, predictable money is better than lots of money.

      But you're right.  Even that would be a hard sell- especially if people thought that they could keep the $500 themselves, and then just contribute $50 a year.
