  •  Actually, what the Pentagon does matters a lot. (0+ / 0-)

The Pentagon funds a lot of research, which among other things, is about alternative fuels, clean energy, and cutting carbon emissions. More, they're putting it into use.

Planning for future conflicts means looking at where the world is destabilizing  - which means looking at where climate change is having consequences. The Syrian conflict started in large part because A) crop failures from weather issues throwing a lot of farmers out of work and off their farms, and B) government mismanagement of food supplies and costs. It's probably a good thing to have at least one part of the government keeping an eye on how bad climate issues are getting, around the world.

When natural disasters strike - as they are going to - the military often ends up doing disaster relief. They need to be trained and ready.

The military is a huge employer and a huge purchaser of goods and services. If they take climate change seriously, so does everyone who has to deal with them.
