Idiosyncratic, pro-establishment. Liberal, not progressive. For the poor, the children, the planet, and the rule of law.

of the first Jewish Speaker being a Republican.

But what about Boehner?  Is he intransigent?

      •  It's not Boehner, it's the 20 GOPers needed (0+ / 0-)

to pass the bill.  I'm not sure we could even get that after they see Cantor going down.

This has no effect because it was never getting a vote no matter what. It will happen afafter Hillary is President,  when mounting defeats finally sink in with Republicans or we take the House.

No one imagined this was possible, that the result would be anything but a comfortable Cantor win.  There were some who imagined maybe he'd be held to around 60%, which is bad for a powerful incumbent at home in a primary but still a blowout by any other measure.

but unwilling to risk party unity. Brat's campaign against Cantor has been heavy on anti-immigration messaging, so if he won it would be a loud and clear signal to other Republicans not to act.

Now Jared Polis can be the first Jewish and gay speaker.
