  •  When it comes to veteran's issues, the GOP is (9+ / 0-)

full of shit, just like everything else. Unfortunately, a lot of veterans buy into the myth that Republicans are better on such issues. An inspection of the record shows that Democrats are far better on veteran's issues, but I don't think we don't a near good enough job getting that message through.

    •  sadly, treating vets like trash (0+ / 0-)

isn't "just" a GOP thing. the last vets who were treated well when they came home were the vets of ww2. they got the gi bill, essentially a free education. the gi bill of today might get you a year or so of college, depending on where you choose to go. face it, as pointed out so wonderfully by Jon Stewart; vets have been treated poorly by this country since it's founding!

      •  Wrong. You can't cite a Dem President mistreating (0+ / 0-)

vets. The whole recent Vets Admin problems were caused by the Bush Admin and inherited by Obama who is trying to fix it. Very tired of these falsehoods. Dems have been fighting for vets issues since FDR. Tired of the indy/Green/clueless crowd saying its both parties, it is not.

      •  WW2 (0+ / 0-)

was the last time that so many American citizens with recent combat experience demanded service from their government. What resulted was two decades of prosperity.
They only pay attention when the threat is real.
