  •  Privatization of government services (24+ / 0-)

always results in greater costs and/or less service. Being privatized means that 10 to 20% of the funds allocated to that service must be first funneled off for CEO pay and profits.

In government means corporate profits off the peoples treasury with one way to add to those profits is raising taxes of everyone below that so called 1 or 2%. Ability to legislate added fee's to increase those profits for the corporate entities and wall street investors in. With no regulations, pretending to have oversite so the skeleton work force of the government agencies would still take all blame in the new world of government of the people by the people and for the people because there would be no accountability for those corporate entities. We already have that all across the government, the NSA, the National Security security clearances, the passed Policies that in this time outsources the building of the websites, ACA some four years to do, so the public has ease in participating in the policies that are there for them, and on and on and on.................., with stock prices rising and those who con their way to the top grow vastly wealthy and their spoiled offspring are the news followed after them top folks are rotting away or in ashes already!!!

The 1700 (and I believe that number will skyrocket when the investigation is done) who were found to be on "unofficial" wait lists, would argue that receiving ZERO care is much worse.

The dead ones are not able to argue, luckily for VA officials.

or any other shady occurrences.  This Repug tactic/logic always cracks me up. They always use some government program's or department's shortcoming as proof that it needs to be privatized.  Yes, by all means let's place more and more of our government function in the noble and capable hands of the likes of Wall Street, BP, West Fertilizer Company, Walmart, Freedom Industries, Halliburton, Blackwater, McDonald's, News Corp/International, etc, etc, etc.

Yes, this is who we need to rely on MORE.

If all veterans were put on medicare/medicaid, it would result in a pressure to improve these programs for everyone.  It has always seem very wasteful to me to have separate governement medical program, one for those who 'deserve' care and one for those who do not.

The actual cost of the VA program is hard to quantify, and clearly it has not been providing decent service for at least the past 15 years.  More than 60 days for an appoinement is unacceptable.  Part of the problem is the constant wars.  Part of this, more recently, is sequestration and the government shut down.

What is clear, though, is we are paying more for care is some cases than we need to.  For instance, the military will pay for medical school instead of simply hiring the best graduates and paying off loans on a percentage basis for each year of service, which is what happens in civilian governement jobs.  We should be trying to get the best doctors for our vets, not just those who are desperate.

This would all be simpler if we had universal health care.

first, by not jumping the real 115 day wait list line, and second by renouncing all future government-paid medical care that he uses from Veteran Affairs, the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington D.C. and other military or government hospitals or clinics. In exchange he would get a privatization voucher.  I've heard it's $1,000.00 or so?
