    Yeah, it seems like we've generally lost our minds; we lack the community feeling that tells us we need to look out for each other, even if we disagree on some things. And I don't know why that is or what happened to change it...my hunch is that we as a country became affluent enough where we don't need each other or rely on each other like we used to, so we became selfish. Or that we don't have a great shared enemy to pull us all together as we've had in the past. Or I just don't know.

    That's a good historical tidbit, thanks. I had not heard of Madelyn Murray O'Hair before. Interesting bio, horrible ending, 'tho.

      There has always been a substantial slice of Americans who've had these attitudes.

      Within that slice, there's a wealthy, devious, clever, and highly aggressive group who've been using wads of cash to push those attitudes of selfishness. Their propaganda has been very successful.
