  •  Legislative primaries update (4+ / 0-)

    Close races:

SD-10 (Fremont): Looks like Bob Wieckowski has defeated shoplifting Mary Hayashi.  He'll face a Republican in a Safe Dem district.

SD-20 (Los Angeles): 4 Democrats are fighting for the right to defeat Republican Matthew Munson; 3 are still in it.

SD-28 (Riverside County): 4 candidates bunched up; 1 Dem and 3 Repubs.

SD-26 (Los Angeles): Democrat Ben Allen has a marginal lead.  5 are still in it, including 4 Democrats.

AD-4 (Napa/Solano/Yolo): 2 Dems, 1 Republican.  Anything can happen, but moderate Bill Dodd has the lead, with liberal Dan Wolk in third.

AD-7 (Sacramento): 2-Dem runoff, just like Sacramento's State Senate district.

    AD-9 (Sacramento/Elk Grove): 2-Dem runoff.

AD-10 (Marin/Sonoma): Non-progressive Marc Levine has easily turned back challengers from the left.

AD-16 (East Bay inland): Liberal Tim Sbranti has a small lead over moderate Steve Glazer to face Republican Catherine Baker in this marginally competitive district.

AD-15 (East Bay): Elizabeth Echols looks like a strong favorite heading into the Dem-on-Dem general.

AD-17 (SF): Slightly less progressive David Chiu with the lead; will go to November against David Campos.

AD-25 (San Jose/Milpitas): Liberal Kansen Chu running away with the Dem vote over moderate Armando Gomez and Teresa Cox.

AD-26 (Central Valley): Looking like an open-seat Republican duel.

AD-44 (Ventura): Social conservative Rob McCoy's triumph in the primary means Republicans will likely lose the seat.

AD-70 (Long Beach): The Lowenthal family reign ends as Patrick O'Donnell will likely win here.

AD-74 (South OC): Another two Republican general.

Idiosyncratic, pro-establishment. Liberal, not progressive. For the poor, the children, the planet, and the rule of law.
UC Berkeley; I think I'm in the conservative half of this city.
