    The letter was pretty boring...

Facts make people think, but emotions make people act. Talking about who theorized global warming 200 years ago is a very good way to get people to snore...

State the fact simply and move on... Like Bill Nye the science guy has an experiment you can do at home to prove CO2 make the planet hotter. Then move on to an emotional twinge to get people to act.

    •  My point is science has established this as fact (0+ / 0-)

for over a century.  This is not a belief.  I tried to be humorous with the first line, but that was redacted too.

Over half of Chattanooga doesn't believe in 'global warming".  I wanted to let people know carbon dioxide emissions is proven and verifiable using scientific methods.

      •  I did not find your letter "boring" (0+ / 0-)

It was well-thought out, informative and not too long. And I learned some interesting things.

It is too bad that many people have the attention span of an infant. Maybe that is due to the media which promises constant excitement. So many people do not bother to read anymore, or if they do, they just scan and move onto something else.

I have noticed that even documentaries are often short on facts and long on seconds-long soundbites and jumping around to different shots to the point of practically giving me headaches trying to follow. I guess to appeal to the ADHD generation.

The fact is that A LOT of people do not understand even the basics of global warming. I talked with one person online who thought it was about the ozone layer!

Hello, this discussion has been going on for decades so a person should at least know SOMETHING about it. It annoys me no end when people debate something that they have absolutely no knowledge of whatsoever.

Limbaugh, who is not a scientist and has never been to the Artic, says all those pics of melting glaciers are faked. AND SO IT MUST BE TRUE! Limbaugh would NEVER LIE now would he???

If billionaires can afford to spend millions of dollars so that they can avoid paying taxes and fair wages, then they *can afford* to pay taxes and fair wages!
