accountability to the agencies across the Nation who regularly violate our civil rights with impunity.

What else will stop it?  I'm willing to accept other answers but you didn't do that so, no.....You are wrong imo and a very simple way to write the law to protect everyone is to require continuous video and audio recording of every single officer interaction...

Then the honest cop has absolutely nothing to fear, he or she will have video record of their polite and respectful treatment of the citizenry that pays their checks and buys their shiny toys....

The abusers on the other hand don't give a rats ass till it hits them personally and hard.

If we can't seem to get criminal convictions, then immediately add continuous recording and strip immunity at the same time....

There'll be a lot less people shot by cops after implemented and just as many "bad guys" getting arrested....

And honestly, if with video and good laws you don't want to  just do your job and be liable for gross misconduct just like every other American is at work, then get another damn job because you can't be trusted as a cop......

There's no legitimate reason for Patrol Officers esp to not be wired for sound and video.  The cost is negligible and the quality high....yet police and police unions tend to fight any attempt to add video surveillance on them though this might be changing...Finally and honestly, it's been a sad display watching cops try to claim no one should be able to watch them doing their job in public in broad daylight....

Here we are doing a test program and the Chief is so pleased with it he's pushing full across the board implementation..
