  •  The problem for the right-wing (7+ / 0-)

is that they have, though a number of actions, undermined their own attempts.

The premise for Benghazi is that we are all supposed to be outraged at the loss of a few American lives in the Middle East because of government incompetence, and then, we are supposed to be more outraged at the supposed lying about those losses.

The problem is that not very long ago, they lied us into a huge war that cost hundreds of thousands of lives, thousands of American lives. That's not to say that we're bad people for not caring, because no one likes to see people get killed, but frankly, we've been desensitized to the loss of life in the Middle East.

The same is true for this guy. Most people don't care that we exchanged five Taliban because over the last decade and more, we've been shown that Taliban lives aren't worth a whole lot, and in the alternative, we're capable of blowing them to bits at any time.

And here in the normal world, we don't concern ourselves with childish evaluations of whether prisoners are "American" enough to be saved from potential torture.

The cute thing is that they think this is the way to win elections. Every time they try to turn stuff that normal Americans could care less about into a major ordeal, they look less and less fit to lead. You would think they would have learned after Benghazi, when that actually turned into a political positive for the president.

But learning is not really their thing.
