    then it'd be easy to send the parts for the first Orion spaceship into orbit and then put it together there and then fly all over the solar system, including Mars.

    But physics is what it is.

    Mars is cool but I'm with polecat; the Asteroids are where it'll be at if there ever is a space going civilization. that person who successfully mines an asteroid is the person who will be the world's first trillionaire, for better or worse, I think.

      Asteroids are where it'll be at if there ever is a space going civilization
      Some of those rocks floating in the shadows not far from Earth may contain giant snowballs. Ice miners on the Moon and asteroids inhabited some of my favorite science fiction as a youngster. The day it happens may be getting closer than we think.
