  •  Yes, snapples -- pathetic, indeed (15+ / 0-)

    N.H. Senator Kelly Ayotte has been stalwart in her support for the return of Bowe Bergdahl, the American soldier captured by the Taliban.  She wrote to Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta urging him to find Bergdahl and bring him home.  She worked to insert language in the Senate Armed Services Committee's report on the Defense Authorization Act demanding answers on the Department's
    efforts.  She wrote to Panetta again.  A few months ago, she wrote yet again to the new Defense Secretary, Chuck Hagel, warning sternly that: "This June will
    mark five years since Bowe Bergdahl was captured by the Taliban.  After so long in captivity, [the Department of Defense] must redouble its efforts to find Sgt. Bergdahl and return him safely to his family."
    She posted this on her website, so eager was she to relay this message.

    Not two weeks ago, Sen. Ayotte was urging us all in an op-ed piece "to keep Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl . . . in our thoughts and prayers," and she added "I renew my call on the Defense Department to redouble its efforts to find Sergeant Bergdahl and return him safely to his family."

    Less than a week later, Secretary Hagel did just that, and Ayotte was spitting criticism and demanding a Congressional hearing at the earliest possible date.
    Turns out she didn't want the Secretary's redoubled efforts after all.
    Her thoughts and prayers?  No longer so concerned about Sgt. Bergdahl.

    She's not alone in performing incredible feats of hypocrisy on this topic, of
    course.  She's just a little slower to remove the evidence.  Many Republicans
    are frantically scrambling to scrub any traces of their previous support for the
    return of Sgt. Bergdahl.

    Such a steadfast bunch of patriots.
