    The SCOTUS only ruled on who may possess what kind of firearm.
    In Heller, it was D.C. prohibiting ownership of a handgun by a law abiding citizen within their own home.
    The purpose for said handgun was for home defense of the owner's life. The SCOTUS decided that that is a normal usage for such a weapon and that such a weapon was an appropriate weapon for home defense.
    Unlike many who went off over that decision, based upon reports, I actually read the entire decision.
